Oil Tank Inspections
I carry out regular inspections of oil tanks for heating systems in the Okehampton area.
Regular Oil Tank Inspections are Important!
If you have a plastic oil tank it will suffer from UV (Ultra Violet) damage from the sun. Ongoing exposure to the sun starts to break the plastic down. The first signs of this happening will be the oil tank beginning to whiten and start to suffer from micro cracks. As this damage gets worse over time the cracks will become bigger to the point where they could cause a split to appear in the plastic – resulting in an oil leak.
Metal tanks will suffer from rusting. This will happen when water moisture or condensation comes in to contact with the steel that the tank is made from. Over time this will cause the tank to begin to rust. On the outside of the tank this can be prevented by using metal paint to combat the rust and extend the tank’s lifetime.
I can advise, make recommendations and carry out remedial work where possible.
